What is WordPress?

By WordPressologist
  • Definition of WordPress from WordPress.org:WordPress is a state-of-the-art publishing platform with a focus on aesthetics, web standards, and usability. WordPress is both free and priceless at the same time.”
  • Definition of WordPress from Wikipedia.com: “WordPress is a free and open source blog publishing application and Content Management System.”
  • Definition of WordPress from WP-ologist.com:WordPress is an easy to use system that allows non-techy people access to the internet to promote their business, cause, hobby or even themselves without having to pay an arm & a leg for a “web designer. “

A few of years ago I was struggling along making my own business website. I couldn’t afford a web designer and so I thought the way to get a website was to learn how to do it myself. I struggled with html and css and received an old copy of Dreamweaver to use to put up my website. It worked well, but there were always glitches and It took me a long time to do.

After about a year my brother said “why don’t you try using WordPress to make a blog?”

My answer to him was “my brain is so full I don’t think I can learn ANOTHER thing.”

SO… I left it on the back burner for awhile.

I had so many other ideas I just wanted to test and didn’t want to have so set up new static website to do it that I finally started looking a WordPress as an option. This was about two years ago and this was also when some great new premium WordPress themes “WordPress templates” were being made. Their were theme options that ltterally allowed me to put up a site and instead of it looking like a blog it would actually look like a “REAL” website. This was exactly what I wanted and my love affair with WordPress had finally begun… heart-wordpress
